Oh Yeah! I Guess I Should Welcome Everyone, Huh?

How rude of me!
I began this site by adding content even before I really had it ready to be seen in public. Having done that, I never got around to welcoming everyone and I never provided instructions on how to use the site.
About Me
My name is Larry Eiss and I live just outside Albany in upstate New York. From there I commute by Amtrak to New York City each day. The trip is about 150 miles and when everything runs on time it takes three hours door to door in each direction. I know that sounds crazy, but look at it this way. I get time on the train to write this stuff! In the city I work for a software company called Information Builders.
Purpose
The idea behind LarryEiss.com is to provide information about topics in which I am most interested. I hope that you will find them interesting too. If you do, please feel free to comment and provide a link to your own site if you like. You’ll find convenient links all over the site. Some take the form of ads in the sidebar. These take you to other sites where you can find products or services related to things I discuss. Other links are simply there to provide you interesting information including word definitions, articles that provide further information, and Web destinations of interest. Please click around! Some of the links provide a way for you to support me at no cost to you.
There are three primary categories:
Photography
This category chronicles my experiences with photography. I share what I learn and give my opinions on a variety of topics. I am relatively new to photography, but I really enjoy it. The site also has a photo gallery where you can view some of my work. The photographs are grouped into various roughly-topical albums. Some of these albums are for whimsical, humorous, or otherwise tongue-in-cheek shots, or for what can best be called experiments. Some contain pictures of mundane things like tables I’ve built or other things I want to discuss here.
If you’d like a print of something you see, please send me an email using the Contact page. I can make prints in pretty much any size you want and I can mat, or mat and frame them too if you like. This is basically a hobby for me, so let me know what you want, and I’ll let you know if I can do it. I might even build the frame in my workshop.
Woodworking
Speaking of the workshop; I am blessed to have a great shop in which I like to build various woodworking projects. These range from frames to end-grain “butcher block” cutting boards, to the occasional rocking horse or small piece of furniture. Most of my woodworking is not available for purchase, but cutting boards, frames, and a few other things I think I can manage from time to time are. Once I get the basic site infrastructure where I want it I’ll begin implementing a system whereby I can offer products of my own creation for sale more easily. Until then, please use the Contact page if you see something you like.
The woodworking category has topical articles and links. I discuss my experiences in building various projects, and talk about the equipment, wood, and processes involved. I’d love to hear what you’re doing too, so please be sure to add your comments or point me to interesting sites.
Theology–Moved to A Layman’s Thoughts blog
Here I post my thoughts on religion and theology. If you find this category offensive, please feel free not to read it.
I am a deeply committed follower of Jesus Christ and I believe you should be too. That statement explains a lot about my worldview.
I believe there is only one way to heaven and that there is nothing you can do, however good it might be, to get there. You can get to heaven only by the grace of God and faith that His Son Jesus Christ paid the debt you owed because of your sin, but could never pay, and thereby opened the door for you to have His righteousness–if you accept the gift He offers, turn from your sin, and agree that He is your Lord. (This is very good news for me since I know a little about how evil my heart is.)
I believe that there is one God who exists in three persons, a concept which I can best understand by equating it to the way time has a past, a present, and a future, yet is all still time.
I believe that the Bible is the written Word of the Living God; that it is itself living and active, powerful and effective, and written by men as inspired by the Holy Spirit.
I believe that God created us as free moral agents who have a real will and can make decisions that actually matter. For this reason I believe no one should be forced or coerced to believe as I do.
I believe in absolute Truth, which means that some things are actually true for all people at all times no matter what they think. This leads to my belief that people are responsible for their actions.
I believe that God is love and that I am therefore not to condemn others or judge their hearts.
Consequently you will find me clear about what I believe is right, but not willing to force it on you.
I really hope you enjoy the site. Please participate in the way that fits you best. If you’d like to help me be able to put more time into this, see how you can do so here.

Good way to get us all excited. I know I am! I think I might pick out a photo for myself. Maybe you will make a frame for me for Christmas! Oh I really love your photos.
Good statement of faith, clear concise and convicting.
Love You,
Meg
