So we went down to Greensboro, NC to visit our daughter and son-in-law and to see the grandkids–yes, we have grandchildren. We had a wonderful time talking about blogs, taking pictures of everyone, eating way too much, and playing spades.
Soon the visit, like all good things, came to an end… or so we thought. Our daughter drove us to the airport to catch a mid-afternoon flight on United Airlines. We arrived two hours early and were waiting at our gate while a prior flight that hadn’t yet left was boarded. We figured we’d be late due to this, but we had no idea what was really in store.
When it finally became very clear that something was wrong, we asked one of the staff about the status of our flight. To our complete surprise we were told that it had net yet left it’s last destination and was not expected in Greensboro for quite some time yet!
We were surprised because we had been right there for more than an hour and not one announcement about our flight as made.
To make a long story short, we ended up staying an extra night, which cost us one additional day off work–a small price to pay for more time with family.
Have you had experiences like this? For me it was a first, I’ve been delayed and rerouted, but never without announcements communicating the problem. Let me know!
